Tennessee suspends wide receiver Da'Rick Rogers

(AP) ? Tennessee has suspended star wide receiver Da'Rick Rogers for an unspecified violation of team rules.

Rogers was an all-Southeastern Conference selection last year with 67 catches for 1,040 yards and nine touchdowns.

The junior from Calhoun, Ga., doesn't appear on the depth chart Tennessee released Thursday for its Aug. 31 season opener with North Carolina State at the Georgia Dome. Cordarrelle Patterson, a transfer from Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College, likely would start in Rogers' place.

Rogers was expected to team up with Justin Hunter to form the SEC's top receiving tandem as Tennessee attempts to bounce back from a 5-7 season. Hunter caught 17 passes for 314 yards and two touchdowns last year before tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee on Sept. 17.

Rossopomodoro | Riyadh Eats Restaurant Review Guide

I best enjoy a restaurant when I know what to expect of its cuisine so a little search about Rossopomodoro introduced me further to Naples, the home city of this restaurant, where pizza originated. (And thus the term, ?Neapolitan?). Well, if pizza originated in Rossopomodoro?s home city, how can they go wrong in making it?

I was excited to try their traditionally-cooked pizza so my friends and I chose Fru Fru, the trio of flavors in one oval dough to get a taste of three in one. The freshness and rich taste of the ingredients are really evident on each square slice. The margherita, named after Queen Margherita?s visit to Naples, is simple but lovely to bite. The tomato sauce rich ? but not overwhelming. The middle portion of salami and ricotta also delicious and my favorite of the bunch. The rocket leaves and parmesan part was interesting; the bitter-mustardy taste of the leaves went well with the sharp, complex taste of the cheese shavings. The pizza dough is chewy, to the point that it almost feels and tastes like the thick Arabic bread available across Riyadh.

The meatball appetizer, Polpettuccia, wasn?t as good as we had hoped. We liked the beef strips though. Their Verdummara salad was bland and we had to ask for more dressing. Still, even with a new dose of the white salty sauce, the salad didn?t taste much better.

In contrast, the Ravioli was delicious. The ricotta, basil, and creamy tangerine tomato sauce went superbly together. However, 55 riyals for 4 pieces of filled pasta may be a little steep for some. While the fresh ingredients are also evident in their salad, meatball appetizer, and pasta, I suggest you stick to the pizza.

This Neapolitan restaurant in Riyadh is housed in a lovely white building on Tahlia Street. The red sign of Rossopomodoro is brilliant in the morning sun; even during the night when the busy street is brightly-lit. As for the atmosphere inside, its really quite nice with a rustic but vibrant feel with touches of wood here and there.

Ladies will enjoy the tall chairs for conversations and superior view of the huge pizza oven over dinner, while families can choose to dine in paneled tables for privacy. Rossopomodoro has a lot of branches worldwide and the Riyadh branch is the second one in Saudi Arabia (the first having been reviewed over at Jeddah Food here). So definitely, one cannot ignore Rossopomodo. It is, after all, a slice of success.

Fuel Saving Tip: Fuel System Cleaning Near ... - B-Town Automotive

A lot of gas is wasted in the Loveland area by dirty fuel delivery systems.

Let?s start at the tank. The gas tank gathers dirt, rust and sediment over the years. That?s why there?s a fuel filter to clean the fuel after it leaves the tank. A dirty filter will rob the engine of the clean gas it needs to run efficiently.

B-Town Automotive Fuel System Cleaning The fuel intake components get coated with gum and varnish over time. This results in fuel being delivered inefficiently and some of that gunk getting into the engine. A fuel system service at B-Town Automotive will leave your intake as clean as a whistle.

The big fuel thief is dirty fuel injectors. They deliver fuel to the engine at a specified pressure and in a particular spray pattern. When they?re clogged, the fuel doesn?t get atomized the way it?s supposed to and doesn?t get burned as efficiently.

See your owner?s manual or ask your Loveland service advisor at B-Town Automotive when a fuel system cleaning is recommended.

Africa Means Business activated in Ghana

The Thomson Media Foundation has activated the 'Africa Means Business' (AMB) project in Ghana for journalists and economic researchers to sharpen mutual skills for improved public debate on finance and business issues.

Sixteen selected trainees are participating in the series of workshops at the University of Ghana's School of Communication Studies to build capacity to better inform on economic and development policy decisions by increasing the level of public debate.

Ghana's Deputy Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Seth Terkper, in an opening address, emphasized the need for governments and business enterprises to do more to provide information to media outlets to tell Africa's fair and balanced story.

?Entrepreneurs, governments and civil society organizations must help institutionalize the emergence of print, radio, TV and web-based outlets that are dedicated to reporting economic and business news on the continent?, he said.

The Minister however noted this cannot be a substitute for hard work, research and leadership by media organizations, addingthat a competitive media environment will be eluded if the working conditions of media professionals are not enhanced.

?Media houses and institutions must be willing to invest in capacity building and the welfare of their employees to get a positive return on profit from their business through proper business schemes such as strategic planning and budgeting?, he stated.

Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Professor Ernest Aryeetey, bemoaned the under-reportage of activities by African researchers to spark development discourse.

He is hopeful the AMB project will provide a better opportunity for media-researchers engagements to increase public sector interest in research.

The AMB project is aimed at resourcing journalists to create accurate, probing stories about economics and business, whilst equipping economists with communication skills to make important research and other relevant materials available to journalists.

According to the Chief Executive of Thomson Media Foundation, Nigel Baker, the economic activity in African states deserves better analysis, scrutiny and coverage in order to manage and derive maximum benefit from the continent's natural resources.

?It is important to be able to hold governments as well as private companies and aid institutions to account, so that the media have a deep understanding of the relevant economic and policy decisions?, he added.

A similar project has been rolled out in Kenya and by the end of 2013, a total of 32 journalists and 32 economists will have taken part across the two countries.

The project is funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Other partners include Oxford University's Centre for the Study of African Economies, the Financial Times' Wincott Foundation and the Africa Economic Research Consortium.

Wild Olive: family time

Family Time

Do you ever start talking about something and the person you're talking to has no idea what you're saying? Maybe you started mid-thought, you used the wrong word, or some background info was needed? This happens to me, and I usually say something like, "I knew what I was talking about!" hoping to laugh through it!

Well, I don't want that to happen here on the blog, so today I'm sharing a little about what surrounds me, and how that affects who I am and how I blog. Allow me to go on for a bit. This post is gonna be wordy! (with a few pics from dessert and stitching the other night!)

Family Time

I live at home with my parents and younger siblings. There are six kids in my family, and my youngest sister is seven. (that's her in the super-neon swimsuit above!) For a person my age, I realize this is not quite normal, but we're okay with that. When I ask my parents if they're ready for me to go, they tell me they like having me here. And I like being here, and being under the protection of my parents.

My family home schools, which means that the house is often full, and fairly loud. And I do all of my work from home. Sometimes, it's a wonder that I actually get things done, but I still can't imagine it differently! Oh, and we do a lot (a LOT) together, which means that when we go out, we all pile into our giant van. We call it the Big Bus of Fun. (Some of us say it a bit more sarcastically than others...)

Family Time

Our house is a creative environment, and that's thanks largely to my parents who encourage creativity. There's always a project in the works, whether it's construction, painting pictures, designing a town for toy cars, or stitching crafts. Pulling out tools, supplies and "stuff" to start making is always welcome! It does mean that the house is often a mess. And we're all too busy creating to ever get it all the way clean! Most of the time, we try our best, and then try not to fret over it. (Although, while writing this I'm also in the process of trying to schedule several DAYS to clear out my office/mini-studio...)

We are all very different people, but we all enjoy creating in one way or another. I think part of that comes from parents who are creative and who set us up in an atmosphere that allows for exploration. But I also know that we are made in God's image, and He is a Creator! It makes sense that we would have that attribute in us; we just need to nurture it.

Family Time

Which brings me to faith. It comes up as a topic here on Wild Olive because it's a big part of my life. To not talk about it would be to hide who I am, where I come from, and where I'm going. For as long as I can remember, my family has had daily conversations about God, church, the Bible, and everything that goes with these. When questions come up, we talk about them, research answers, figure it out together, and make our faith our own.

God is what all of this (family, blog, work, joy, life!) is about. As a family, we seek to glorify God by loving Him, following His commands, and making Him the most important thing in our lives. It's a process. One that requires practice. But we're trying. And in the middle of it all, we aim to be available for what God has planned. And guess what? He's doing amazing things!

"If you only look at us, you might well miss the brightness. We carry this precious Message around in the unadorned clay pots of our ordinary lives. That's to prevent anyone from confusing God's incomparable power with us." 2 Corinthians 4:7 (The Message)

The best way to Make a Living as a Ski Bum ?

So your preferred issue to complete is ski, as well as your least favorite issue to perform is go to operate. And obviously you might be under the impression that there is absolutely no attainable approach to combine both and make a decent living. Confident, you are able to turn into a ski lift operator and live inside a little apartment with 3 other roommates consuming best ramen every single night. But I have located an approach to be self employed, hit the slopes by ten:00 am and conduct business from the chair lifts. I hope this doesn?t come off like bragging, I just wish to let men and women know that there?s a much better life available. Personally, I haven?t had this considerably fun since college.

With that being said I bought a property close to the slopes of a significant ski resort in Colorado, and converted it into a bed & breakfast. It is the most entertaining job I have ever had. You basically make breakfast each and every morning and ski the rest of the day. Positive you need to clean rooms every single few days, but guests normally don?t want anyone in their room during their stay. They just want to be pampered during breakfast, hit the slopes all day, go out to dinner, come back to their room and pass out from exhaustion. Looking at the following schedule you might say that I work 7am to 5pm everyday, with a six-hour lunch break.

Here is the average Saturday for me:

- 6:30 am Shower, drink coffee, check emails and the weather forecast.

- 7:00 am Start guest coffee, prepare breakfast and set the table.

- 8:00 am Guests start coming to the breakfast table. I give them a big plate of food and make confident their orange juice and coffee never run empty. During this time we talk about skiing and the resort. They always wish to know the weather forecast, if I am skiing that day, and how many times I?ve gone during the season. It is always an enjoyable conversation, given that they are on vacation and couldn?t be happier.

- 9:00 am I generally need to run a credit card payment for someone, or check out a movie from the library (I will discuss this later). Guests are also heading to the resort during this time, so I let them know how you can get there, the best places to eat and my preferred runs. I also start doing dishes so I can hit the slopes (be confident to see friends in my tips section).

- 9:30 am The last guest has eaten and I finish cleaning. But, before I head out I need to shovel snow and check the hot tub to create confident no one turned the heat down the night before.

- 10:00 am Hit the slopes.

- 11:00 am Normally by this time I have already received a phone reservation. Men and women get excited when I tell them I am on the chair lift, because they know that they will be there soon enough. Guests who reach me while I am on the slopes are always more likely to produce a reservation. With a cell phone I can feel the vibration of a call and store numbers for a return call later that day.

- 4:00 pm ? The lifts close and I head for residence.

- 4:30 pm I make a quick walk through of the bed and breakfast to find out how significantly enjoyable my guests had and check in any new arrivals. Then I return phone calls and check emails.

- 5:00 pm By this time all my guests have made it back from the slopes, so I check out movies and make recommendations for dinner.

After that I am done for the day, with the exception of a few miscellaneous reservations. I clean rooms on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but can still make it to the slopes since I don?t have a lot of guests to tend to.

Needless to say there are a lot more things to think about before starting up a bed and breakfast, but these are the things that can?t be found in most of the books:

- Get a very good cell phone. You need a phone that gets very good reception everywhere on the mountain. Each resort has a tower, just uncover out which phone company owns it.

- Most people plan their vacation over the internet, so you must have an easy to uncover & informative website. Here is mine http://www.slopeview.com/. A lot of the things in this list can be seen in more detail on my site.

- Location is everything. Make certain individuals can get to the slopes easy, whether it be by shuttle bus or walking. They don?t need to drive, and you don?t want to offer transportation, because it will seriously cut into your ski day.

- You need a hot tub. If you don?t have one, you might as well sell the beds and let your guests sleep on the floor.

- Rooms have to become unique. Individuals like interesting rooms that are unlike any room in their house. I?ve gone with a Five Great Things To Love About Colorado theme.

- Offer it as a vacation rental. This will allow you to take a few days off and get first tracks in the morning, or go out of town.

- Your friends are the cheapest employees you will ever have. If you have a place for them to sleep, and give them leftover breakfast, they will help you get to the slopes faster. Most of my friends that reside in Denver have season passes, and I never have to shovel snow.

These are just a few recommendations, but not necessary:

- People like having their own bathroom! Not each and every room will have one, but they will have useless closets that you are able to convert.

- Set up a coffee & snack bar, and let guests make coffee whenever they want. Flavored coffee syrups and microwave popcorn are cheap, but offer a little perk for your guests.

- Everyone loves movies. I?ve set up DVD players in every room and have a library of 270 movies (it was a hobby before I started the b & b). It is possible to buy used movies at video stores and ask friends to loan you theirs. Unique movies are great, because it is nice to recommend great movies that folks haven?t seen.

- Waffle makers rock! If you take instant waffle mix and mix in fresh berries or nuts, you are going to have some happy customers.

Folks could tell you that running a bed and breakfast is hard operate, but these folks must think they have an obligation to clean rooms everyday and prepare a 5-course breakfast that takes hours make. I have never had a complaint, and many of my guests are repeat customers, that just like to ski. In fact I feel that the more time I spend at the resort, the much better I am as a concierge.

Not only is it a great company venture, but the property around ski resorts will always go up value more so than anywhere else. You are able to also sell an established organization for twice as much as a residential home.

So knock down the walls of your cubicle, grab your skis and prepare for a lifestyle change that will result in you becoming a bum a ski bum.
