Administers, oversees, develops, organizes, directs, and evaluates programs, services, activities relating to the Health Sciences Library (HSL) and Continuing Medical Education (CME).
Essential Functions:
Manages the day-to-day library operations and facility.
Develops a strategic plan which conforms to the organization?s missions, goals and objectives.
Participates in internal meetings to coordinate the HSL and CME goals and objectives with those of the organization.
Attends professional conferences, workshops, seminars and classes to maintain knowledge of trends in information management and continuing education.
Prepares, monitors, and manages the annual budget.
Evaluates, selects, and makes accessible both online and print resources.
Provides individual and group instruction on using medical and health care resources.
Provides copies of materials to clients through interlibrary loan and document delivery.
Conducts literature searches using PUBMED, CINAHL and other online resources.
Develops and distributes information materials such as newsletters, brochures and fliers.
Develops individual client current awareness and selective dissemination services based on personal information profiles.
Supports the implementation of ACCME policies and procedures.
Manages the accreditation documentation systems and calendar of events for CME.
Maintains all CME activity files.
Manages Grand Rounds.
Prepares the agenda and records minutes for CME Committee meetings.
Tracks and maintains physician participation files of AMA PRA Category 1 credits.
Prepares annual reports for the CME program and participates in the preparation of documentation for accreditation surveys.
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Master?s Degree in Library Science
MINIMUM YEARS OF EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Two years experience in a medical or science library.
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND/OR ABILITIES REQUIRED
Online information retrieval using professional databases; Microsoft Office Applications; knowledge of Federal Copyright Law, JCAHO Information Management requirements, American Medical Association Medical Staff Continuing Education requirements.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND/OR ABILITY
Medical Library Association?s Standards for Hospital Libraries; hospital library collection development tools.
